How many memory modules must I install at one time in my ABIT ABIT Motherboards VP6?
For your reference, we have listed the technical memory specifications for your ABIT ABIT Motherboards VP6. These ABIT Motherboards VP6 memory specifications are for the standard configuration when shipped by the system manufacturer. This information is given to you as a reference to confirm you are installing the correct type of RAM. You should consult your system user manual if you have any questions about your particular ABIT ABIT Motherboards memory configuration. Choosing what to buy when upgrading your system memory is often a confusing process. Think of purchasing a memory upgrade as a two step process.
Step 1: Identify what Type of Memory is compatable with your particular desktop, laptop, printer, or other device.
GOOD NEWS! If you have reached this page, most likely you have already completed this first step and you are halfway there. Any of the RAM modules listed on the Product Tab are compatible with your ABIT ABIT Motherboards VP6.
Step 2: Choose which RAM module to buy.
The ABIT ABIT Motherboards VP6 uses PC-100/133 type memory and usually ships from ABIT with 0MB of RAM. The ABIT Motherboards VP6 supports up to 2GB of RAM. Maximizing your system memory will allow your ABIT Motherboards to operate as fast as possible and offer the most productive environment.
RAM modules must be installed in special locations on the motherboard called Sockets. These memory sockets are what hold the RAM module in place and can range from 1 to 16 or more. Banks consist of a group of 1 or more sockets. A system can have 1 or more of these banks of sockets. If a system has more than 1 socket in a bank, a Kit must be purchased for that bank. A kit is simply more than one, usually 2 or 4, like RAM modules. All sockets in a bank must be filled, and for such systems we sell memory in a kit. Typically you will see 2x512MB or 2x256MB signifying you are purchasing 2 units of 512MB RAM modules or 2 units of 256MB RAM modules, respectively.
The ABIT ABIT Motherboards VP6 has 4 bank(s) which have 1 socket(s) in each bank for a total of 4 memory socket(s). This means the ABIT Motherboards VP6 can support up to 4 individual RAM modules.
We recommend you purchase the largest capacity RAM module each time you purchase memory. The reason for this is if you decide to upgrade again later and all your memory sockets are filled, you will not need to discard the already installed lower capacity memory.
