Can you help me choose which memory I need?
That is why we built the "Big Blue Memory Configurator". This tool walks you through 3 simple steps to find the memory compatible
with your system. First, select the system manufacturer. Second, select the system family. Third, select the system model. We
will then search our database to find your options for memory compatible with your system.
We will show you how much memory is typically installed, how much memory your system supports, they type of memory your system uses,
and the memory configuration for your system. The "Installation Help" tab helps explain in further detail how many memory modules your
system requires and the typical memory configuration.
How do I install my new memory module?
Please consult your system owner's manual for specifics.
Below are general installation guidelines when installing new memory:
- Shutdown and power off your system.
- Unplug the power cord or remove the battery if laptop.
- Open the case (desktop, servers, printers) or memory compartment (laptops)
- Locate the memory sockets on the motherboard
- If replacing existing memory, remove current memory module(s)
- Place your new memory module in the open socket while insuring the memory notches line up with the socket notches.
- Push your new memory module straight down (45 degree angle for laptops) until the retaining clips on either side of the socket snap into place securing the memory in the socket.
- Replace the power cord and turn on your system to verify the new memory has been recognized.
- If the memory has been recognized replace the case cover.
- If the memory has not been recognized double check the memory has been correctly installed.
How much memory is enough?
Every system is different and every user's requirements are different. When in doubt always go higher as you will never be disappointed with having too little memory.

** Our memory recommendation is based on a user who only uses standard word processing programs. We recommend users who are looking to run multiple programs, games, or video/graphics programs install the maximum amount of memory supported by their computer. You can find this maximum amount of supported memory for your system by using our "Big Blue Memory Configurator".
* The minimum amount of memory is typically set by the Operating System manufacturer and considers the minimum amount required to run the basic Operating System itself and not any additional programs. This minimum requirement is often very misleading and rarely acceptable by users running multiple programs at one time. This is why we recommend you install more memory than what is recommended for the Operating System.
What can I expect after upgrading my memory?
You will notice a couple of improvements after upgrading your memory. Your computer will boot up faster, programs will load faster, and you will be able to run more programs at one time. All of these improvements mean you will spend more time using your computer and less time waiting on your computer.
